- 4 pieces Hot Dogs (or sausages or plant-based options for variations)
- 8 ounces Mozzarella Cheese (can use vegan mozzarella for dairy-free option)
- 1 cup All-Purpose Flour (or gluten-free flour blend)
- 1/4 cup Potato Starch (corn starch can be used as alternative)
- 1/4 cup Corn Starch (can replace some potato starch)
- 1 teaspoon Baking Powder
- 1 cup Milk (or almond milk for dairy-free)
- 1 large Eggs
- 2 cups Frozen Fries (optional for extra crunch)
Instructions
- Cut each hot dog in half and insert a cube of mozzarella into the center, sealing with edges. Freeze for 30 minutes.
- Combine flour, potato starch, corn starch, baking powder, and salt in a bowl. Whisk and then add milk and eggs until smooth. Rest for 5 minutes.
- Dip each hot dog into the batter, ensuring even coating, then roll in frozen fries if desired.
- Heat oil to 350°F. Fry coated corn dogs in batches for 3-5 minutes until golden brown.
- Lift corn dogs from oil with a slotted spoon, draining excess grease, and serve hot.
