A hearty beef noodle casserole with layers of delicious flavors.

- 1 lb ground beef
- 1 small onion, diced
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 8 oz egg noodles
- 1 cup sour cream
- 1 can (15 oz) tomato sauce
- 1/2 cup cottage cheese
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1/2 tsp black pepper
- 1/2 tsp paprika
- 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
- 1 tbsp olive oil
- 1/2 tsp dried basil
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9×13-inch baking dish.
- Cook the egg noodles according to package directions; drain and set aside.
- In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add diced onion and garlic, sauté until soft.
- Add ground beef and cook until browned, breaking it up with a spatula.
- Drain excess grease and stir in tomato sauce, salt, pepper, paprika, and basil. Simmer for 5 minutes.
- In a mixing bowl, combine sour cream and cottage cheese.
- Layer half of the cooked noodles in the prepared baking dish, followed by half of the sour cream mixture and half of the beef mixture.
- Repeat the layers, then top with shredded cheddar cheese.
- Bake for 25-30 minutes or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
- Remove from oven and let sit for 5 minutes before serving.
Notes
- This dish can be prepared ahead of time and stored in the refrigerator before baking.
- Feel free to substitute ground turkey for a lighter option.
