- 1 ½ cups all-purpose flour
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 2 tsp baking powder
- ½ tsp salt
- ½ cup unsalted butter, softened
- 2 large eggs
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 1 ½ cups fresh cherries, pitted and halved
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a round cake pan.
- In a mixing bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, and salt; set aside.
- In another bowl, cream the softened butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
- Beat in each egg one at a time, followed by the vanilla extract until smooth.
- Gradually add the dry mixture to the wet ingredients on low speed until just combined.
- Gently fold in the cherry halves and pour the batter into the prepared pan.
- Bake for 30-35 minutes or until golden brown; a toothpick should come out clean. Let cool before serving.
Notes
- For best results, make sure the butter is softened to room temperature.
- Fresh cherries are recommended for optimal flavor.
