A hearty and delicious classic lasagna recipe made with layers of rich meat sauce, creamy ricotta, and melted mozzarella.

- 1 lb ground beef
- 1 onion, diced
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 (28 oz) can crushed tomatoes
- 1 (6 oz) can tomato paste
- 2 teaspoons dried oregano
- 1 teaspoon dried basil
- Salt and pepper, to taste
- 12 lasagna noodles
- 15 oz ricotta cheese
- 1 egg
- 3 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
- 1 cup grated Parmesan cheese
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
- In a large skillet, brown the ground beef over medium heat. Add diced onion and minced garlic. Cook until the onion is translucent.
- Stir in crushed tomatoes, tomato paste, oregano, basil, salt, and pepper. Simmer for 15-20 minutes.
- While the sauce simmers, boil the lasagna noodles according to package instructions. Drain and set aside.
- In a bowl, mix ricotta cheese, egg, and a pinch of salt until well combined.
- In a 9×13 inch baking dish, spread a thin layer of the meat sauce. Place 3 noodles over the sauce, then spread one-third of the ricotta mixture on top.
- Sprinkle with one cup of mozzarella cheese. Repeat layering two more times, finishing with a layer of noodles and the remaining meat sauce on top.
- Finish by sprinkling the remaining mozzarella and Parmesan cheese over the sauce.
- Cover the baking dish loosely with tin foil to prevent burning.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 25 minutes. Remove the foil and bake for an additional 15-20 minutes, or until the cheese is bubbly and golden.
- Remove from the oven and let it cool for 15 minutes before slicing. This helps the layers hold together when serving.

- Allowing the lasagna to cool slightly before slicing ensures neat portions.
- This dish can be prepared ahead of time and refrigerated before baking.
